What an incredible year, it must be said! Home produced Super Nova has gone from strength to strength, jumping double clear in every Intermediate we contested! With 2 wins under our belt, it was time to step up to 3* at Wellington International where Nova jumped another beautiful double clear inside the time to finish 3rd in very good company.
After an outstanding season, I felt it was time to reward Nova with a quieter end to the summer whilst I focused on starting young horses for myself and clients. This quieter period involved finishing the event season on a high at the end of September, attending our final Haddon Training Advanced Apprentiship in Sporting Excellence (AASE), where she and homebred Greenhays Eclipse (Eric) really caught the eye of leading trainers and we received really exciting feedback and some great ideas for winter training.
Having won the British Dressage Area Festival at Bicton Arena with the highest score of the weekend, Super Nova and I made the 4.5 hour journey in October to compete in the championship at Arena UK. Some fantastic work was rewarded with 3rd in the Elementary Silver Championship. To qualify for next year’s Winter Regionals and Petplan Areas we continued to compete at British Dressage competitions and earnt our highest scores to date (75% & 76%) in our final competition of the year at Half Moon.
I now look forward to building on what I have learnt from the 2020 British Equestrian Federation Young Professional Program over the winter, strengthening my knowledge base and planning for next season. Not only am I excited about the immediate future, which takes me to Belgium to represent Great Britain in the Student Rider’s Nations Cup over New Year. Growing our breeding program at Greenhays Stud means I will have an exciting team of young horses with the potential to compete at top level in the future.
